It's Complicated? Then You're Not Ready to Tango

Be Your Own Lead - Zedge
Be Your Own Lead - Zedge
It's okay to have a casual fling. But remember, you can't transform something casual into something formal. White Tee to Black Ball Gown? --Impossible.

For the wonderfully optimistic and hopeless romantics out there, bless your hearts and souls, for I rarely allow a shed of sunlight into my heart these days if it wasn't for you pumping these bits of positive attitudes in me every chance you get.

But for now, dare I say this piece is not for romantics.

Friend with Benefits: The Five "W"s

Sex is to Tango As Buddy is to Partner

Everyone needs a partner they can tango with once in a while. As a healthy, universal human being, I believe it is within our human nature to want to let loose the tensions in our bodies and just dance. (No, not the Gaga way...although I wouldn't doubt that either)

There is nothing wrong with just wanting to tango, but you have to remember that there aren't exclusively Tango-type dancers in the world. There are some people who practice and prefer other styles like Tap, Swing, Ballet, and/or the Foxtrot to name a few.

But my ladies, you need to focus on pairing up with your correct male-lead who is interested in the same style.

One, Two, Side Step

Often times a problem will arise dramatically when two dancers decide to pair up. The most common in this case is when a Tango kinda guy is unexpectedly pressured to try a Foxtrot with a fellow lady-friend. And frankly, this would be such a foreign concept for our male lead, especially since he entered the partnership under the pretenses that his lady-friend was just trying to Tango.

So naturally, our male lead will pull a quick side-step and seek another partner who only wants to Tango with him--leaving behind his grief stricken lady-friend doing the Foxtrot all by herself.

So our lady-friend decides to compromise and stick with Tango for now, hoping that her male lead will transition into her much preferred Foxtrot once enough time and practice has gone by. Because of course, what person ever wants to do a Foxtrot all by their lonesome selves? Isn't it better to have a dance partner than not having one at all?

Cry Me A Riverdance

If you start thinking that way, please spare yourself and everyone around you, and just stop. There is little room for doubt, and absolutely no room for weakness in Tango. On top of that, the slightest miscalculated step will dent your morale and leave you insecure--and no one wants to be around that.

In essence, Tango is a strict, seductive and sultry style adopted and stylized only by the most capable duos. If you cannot keep up, then you're most likely dancing to the wrong tune.

So bottom line: There is no crying in Tango!
